How To: Setup An EasyCap

Setting up an EasyCap is easy but, is best done on an HD TV. It is ideal to use a HD TV because this allows us to record on our computer at the same time we play on our TV. Playing through the EasyCap and viewing on the computer screen is difficult and will make montages almost impossible.

Our first step is to change the Xbox into TV mode, you can do this by flicking the switch on the AV connection to the Xbox. This will automatically switch the Xbox into standard definition. Next, plug the yellow cable only into the EasyCap. We don’t want to plug in the audio cables because for some reason EasyCap Viewer can not pick up the EasyCap audio. (I have a step to get around this).

To make the audio work we need one cable and two RCA female to female couplers. You can buy the Y cable here and the coupler here. Plug the Xbox audio into the couplers, then plug the Y adapter cable into the coupler. Last plug the Y adapter into your audio line in port on your computer (it should be maroon). This audio solution also allows you to quickly switch to an auxiliary port on a stereo for normal HD gaming.

The last step is to head onto our Xbox and change the output to widescreen. Go to My Xbox, Console Settings, Display and change it to widescreen.

Thats is your done! What do you think? Did it help? Enjoy your gameplay footage!
